About Build in North Carolina
Buying land and building a home in the North Carolina Triangle means learning a lot at once: perc tests and septic permits, sewer taps and wells, setbacks and easements, land loans and construction loans, and rules that change from one town to the next. The answers are spread across county websites, town codes, state agencies and local news. Build in North Carolina puts them in one place, in plain English, for families. The guides are general and accurate, never advertisements, and they don't rank or review home builders.
Who we are
Build in North Carolina is a service of Hornet Homes, a custom home builder based in Apex. Hornet Homes was founded by Jonathan Andrews, a husband and father of four raising his family here in the Triangle. We're a small, intentional team that has built custom homes across the Triangle since 2016. Building here means working through the same questions this site covers, from land, septic and permits to costs and loans. It's information we rely on ourselves and share with our clients regularly.
How the guides are made
We build every guide on official sources, starting with the county, town and state pages themselves, and we link every fact to where it came from so you can check it yourself. We fact-check every piece before we publish it.
Corrections
